Book Editor
Editswork is founded on the idea that sharing the truth about our lives is one of the greatest gifts we give ourselves and others. Whether that truth is presented as fact or fiction, as your editor, I’ll be protective of the voice, vision and heart of your writing.
In editing your work, my goal to help you realize the story that is closest to your heart. Anything less would be a waste of our time.
I aim to provide thoughtful and insightful editorial support, helping to address any insecurities or gaps in your writing. At Editswork, book editing is a collaborative process facilitated by trust and straightforward feedback.
I take each project and author seriously, giving it my full attention, regardless of the level of book editing required. I’m committed to taking your work to the next level, so you’re even better equipped to write your next book! And the next!
Edit
You might already have a loving community of friends, family, and writing group members who are supportive of your work. Maybe they’ve even helped you by offering their feedback and opinions and served as your “beta readers.”
Congratulations! Now you’re ready for the next step!
Editswork book editing services will give your work the professional, objective, attention it deserves, while helping you to shepherd your writing to where you want it to be.
Whether it’s for structural feedback on a completed manuscript or guidance with writing that has hit a roadblock, I offer various book editing services for all types of writing, including fiction, non-fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry projects.
I’ll provide the necessary support to get your project polished, from copy edits (addressing grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax errors) to line edits (highlighting clarity and flow of your sentences) to developmental feedback on plot, character, pacing, and dialogue and ready for publication.
Types of Editing Services
If you’ve gotten this far in your writing journey, you’re probably already familiar with the different kinds of book editing services an editor like me can provide. But just in case you need a refresher:
Copyediting
Is your book pretty much ready-to-print but it just needs a fine-toothed comb to catch potentially embarrassing mistakes? Copyediting highlights and fixes any punctuation, spelling, and grammar errors and offers an extra pair of eyes to eradicate any anomalies preventing your book from being a readable bestseller.
Line Editing
Line editing addresses the music and language of your writing, focusing on authentic dialogue, repetitiveness, Chicago Manual of Style or publisher’s house style adherence, and any inconsistencies in tense or characterization.
Developmental editing
Developmental editing is attuned to the structure of your entire manuscript, including plot, voice, characters, pacing, overall impact, and appropriateness for your ideal audience. Developmental editing dives deep into the book you’re eager to share with the world, and can address any questions you have about the impact of the story you’re crafting. This can also include a stand-alone manuscript critique.
I offer the following book editing packages to suit your needs and ensure you get the support you need without wasting your time, energy, or resources. However, if you need editing services tailored to your specific project, don’t hesitate to ask!
